Saint Moritz

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Sankt Moritz, or St. Moritz as many know it as, is one of the most renowned top vacation spots and ski areas. Located in the southeastern part of the Swiss Alps in the Engadin Valley, it is pristine in hospitality and offers the tourist breath taking landscapes of lakes, mountains, forests and glaciers. St. Moritz's many claims to fame include hosting the Winter Olympics of 1928 and 1948.

St Moritz has its own style. It is a cosmopolitan and sophisticated town. It offers the visitor big city fun, winter sports and games, and big name fashion. It is no wonder that it is a huge attraction to many celebrities and wealthy VIP's from around the world.

St. Moritz offers snow activities at its best: skiing - downhill and cross-country - the Cresta and Bob runs; horse races, polo and golf on the frozen lake, plus a consummate nightlife, gala events, shopping and fashion shows.

Several of the surrounding mountain peaks are accessible by cable car, including a journey that takes you up to 10837 feet to the top of Corvatsch.

Time Zone: GMT +1 (+2 in summer).
Language: German (majority of its residents), French, Italian and Romanish (Engadin valley)
Visas/Passports: Passport is required for travelers outside of Switzerland. If you do not have a passport and are a U.S. citizen, see the State Department site.
